Weird et al Humdinger: Breast Milk Ice Cream

Icecreamists, the ice cream parlour in London's Covent Garden is selling breast milk ice cream at £14 a scoop. The product is called "Baby Gaga" (hilarious!) and the milk is bought from lactating mothers. The idea is to encourage more breast feeding and make people aware that breast milk can be tasty. Interesting that a lot of people's initial response to this is yuck! Yet we all drink cow milk. Icecreamists specialise in guerilla ice cream, great concept. You have to hand it to them, this breast milk strand is a clever way to promote their brand and get people talking. You may or may not try the "Baby Gaga" but you'll certainly be curious about their other products and you now know who they are. I love the name, it's funny and works on so many levels.

Shame

Pictures for Steve McQueen's other film Shame due out this year have surfaced and I'm curious to see it. It stars Michael Fassbender and Nicole Beharie. Fassbender plays a thirty something New Yorker whose addiction to pornography threatens to ruin his romantic life. He meets Beharie's character, they date and form a relationship. Due to his addiction to porn and inability to connect on a deep, emotional level, trouble's just around the corner for the couple. Nicole Beharie is gorgeous,and a real talent. If you haven't seen her work, check out her sublime performance in American Violet. Michael Fassbender starred in Hunger, Steve McQueen's fantastic debut film.He was also in the brilliant Fish Tank,with a big part in the new Xmen,looks like superstardom beckons.

XY Chromosome Sundae: Chiwetel Ejiofor

So I watched Dirty Pretty Things again a couple of nights ago,what a strange,potent absorbing film. I hadn't seen it for years.I remembered just how much of a huge crush I have on actor Chiwetel Ejiofor.This delicious Nigerian Brit actor exploded on to the scene years back and has a solid career. He's a nice looking man and so...Dignified.He has beautiful eyes that draw you in. He's starred in some major films but needs more leading man roles.He's actually one of the best British actors around in my humble opinion and should be as big a star as any of the leading men in hollywood. He won an Olivier award. He's playing Fela in the new Steve McQueen biopic,can't wait to see him shine and hopefully he'll do the incredible Fela justice. McQueen also directed Hunger starring Michael Fassbender.

Berlin Catherine Brogan

This is a great piece by poet Catherine Brogan, it's intimate, sexy and funny.I love the way it's shot and Catherine's irish accent is brilliantly seductive, I could listen to her go on and on. She's quite a character in person too, colourful and full of life.

Janelle Monae

Janelle Monae, one of my favourite artists has been on tour in the UK and I missed the London gig. Gutted.I knew about the tour, but for some reason thought it was in March. She was at The Roundhouse last night and I'm sure she was brilliant.She's futuristic and funky, a unique artist. I love her album, conceptually it's clever and innovative.You cannot pigeonhole her and I think that's great, particularly for a black female musician.I've been following her career for a few years and it's lovely to see her getting the profile she deserves.

Couple Stalking: Nas and Kelis

I'm still mourning Nas and Kelis's divorce. I absolutely loved them as a couple. They're both great artists. She's the quirky, fearless chanteuse and he's the insanely talented hip hop icon. He's a poet and his albums are in my list of favourite hip hop albums ever, along with Dead Prez, The Roots, Common and Pete Rock & CL Smooth. I think Nas is gorgeous, very sexy man. Kelis is just this stunning, visceral entity. They really suited each other and have a child together, so I hope they're getting on for their kid's sake. Incidentally, Kelis is Pharell's ex girlfriend, he produced her first album.

Actress Kerry Washington is a classic beauty. She keeps it classy and does wear some edgy outfits that I like. Kerry is also intelligent, savvy and politically astute. I like the roles she's picked for herself and she's a very accessible actress, so we'll see if hollywood gives her the kind of roles she should be getting... I'm not holding my breath but I'm looking forward to watching her in Night Catches Us with the talented Anthony Mackie.
